ANA LUA CAIANO & THE WATERBIRDS
ANA LUA CAIANO & THE WATERBIRDS
Portugal & Augsburg
The young Portuguese musician Ana Lua Caiano combines tradition with innovation. She explores musical fusions by combining Portuguese traditional music with electronics: sounds from the past, which she combines with synthesizers, beat machines and field recordings. With her music, she brings the traditional Atlantic heritage into the modern world. With their two EPs “Cheguei Tarde a
Ontem” and “Se dançar é só depois”, which she presented live on several national and international stages, she was awarded “Most Promising New Artist”. Now Ana Lua Caiano is on tour with her long-awaited debut album, having been a guest at some of the most important festivals such as WOMEX (2022), BIME Bilbao, MIL Lisbon, FIRA B!, MUM, Live Europe, Les Trans Musicales and others.
For her performance at Water & Sound, Ana Lua Caiano will be joined by the local festival ensemble The Waterbirds with Michael Salvermoser (trumpet), Eva Welz (saxophone), Jan Kiesewetter (saxophone) and Martin Krechlak (saxophone).
