Bala Desejo channels influences from the Brazilian tropicália of the 60s, the psychedelia of the 70s and MPB for her jazzy avant-garde pop. The quartet, consisting of Dora Morelenbaum, Julia Mestre, Lucas Nunes and Zé Ibarra, is at the center of Rio de Janeiro’s resurgent music scene. They founded Bala Desejo to play together for a festival in 2021, but as a
this show fell victim to the pandemic, the idea for an album project was born.

“Sim Sim Sim” combines tropicália, MPB, rock, samba-canção, soul-funk and reggae and sounds like a classic from the golden era of Brazilian music in the 60s and 70s and at the same time very modern. The album is considered one of the best records from Brazil in recent years and won the Latin Grammy Award 2022. Their epic, theatrical live shows enchant every audience.
