The Nigerian band The Cavemen. brings the energy of West African coastal and river cities to the stage with their highlife fusion sound. The sibling duo Kingsley Okorie on bass and Benjamin James on drums are regarded as one of the central voices of the current highlife renaissance. Their music draws on icons such as E.T. Mensah and Osita Osadebe and brings the style into the present with their own compositions, polyphonic choirs, concise guitar lines and influences from Afrobeats, soul and jazz.

The Cavemen. represent a generation of West African musicians who do not treat tradition nostalgically, but continue it as an urban sound of the present. Their Highlife tells of everyday life, love, friendship and celebrations and appeals to an audience that is just as familiar with West African pop culture as it is with global sounds. Warm, elegant and danceable, they combine virtuoso drumming, bouncy bass lines and classic highlife guitars with electronic elements and the energy of contemporary Afrobeats.
