PARADE OF THE WATERFOWL
PARADE OF THE WATERFOWL
Interactive parade and performance
The waterfowl parade with artistic objects and lots of music travels along Augsburg’s canals and waterways from Siebentischpark to the city center. In 2025, specially created terracotta animal figures from Sejnane in Tunisia will be launched into the water together with visitors in the Stempflebach. Downstream, these “Riverbirds” will be received and united on a bamboo scaffold to form a new sculpture. This “new” waterbird meets the sculpture “Bennu” at the Schaezlerbrunnen fountain, inspired by ancient Egyptian mythology and symbolizing the connection between water, music and the cyclical. The parade will be accompanied musically by Banda Ramua, an international, open brass band collective that stands for community and musical exchange with its diverse repertoire. In Roten Tor Park, the parade will be joined by other musicians from the Ulrichsviertel district and a “Waschfest” with dancers Christiane Kuck, Wolfrun Schumacher, Veronika Drescher and Jiwon Kim. Afterwards, the water birds will continue through the old town along the canals to the stage of the Water & Sound Festival in the Annahof. The project also invites families, children and young people to join in and take part in playful and ritual activities.
